Fourth Day of the Fast of Heesnag

Colossians 3:16-4:4
Luke 11:49-54

Colossians 3:16-4:4

[16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
[17] And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
[18] Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
[19] Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
[20] Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
[21] Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
[22] Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord.
[23] Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men,
[24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ.
[25] For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

Chapter 4
[1] Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
[2] Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving;
[3] and pray for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison,
[4] that I may make it clear, as I ought to speak.

Luke 11:49-54

[49] Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, `I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’
[50] that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
[51] from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechari’ah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.
[52] Woe to you lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”
[53] As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard, and to provoke him to speak of many things,
[54] lying in wait for him, to catch at something he might say.
