[8] The voice of my beloved!
Behold, he comes,
leaping upon the mountains,
bounding over the hills.
[9] My beloved is like a gazelle,
or a young stag.
Behold, there he stands
behind our wall,
gazing in at the windows,
looking through the lattice.
[10] My beloved speaks and says to me:
“Arise, my love, my fair one,
and come away;
[11] for lo, the winter is past,
the rain is over and gone.
[12] The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land.
[13] The fig tree puts forth its figs,
and the vines are in blossom;
they give forth fragrance.
Arise, my love, my fair one,
and come away.
[14] O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
in the covert of the cliff,
let me see your face,
let me hear your voice,
for your voice is sweet,
and your face is comely.
[15] Catch us the foxes,
the little foxes,
that spoil the vineyards,
for our vineyards are in blossom.”
[16] My beloved is mine and I am his,
he pastures his flock among the lilies.
[17] Until the day breathes
and the shadows flee,
turn, my beloved, be like a gazelle,
or a young stag upon rugged mountains.
Chapter 3
[1] Upon my bed by night
I sought him whom my soul loves;
I sought him, but found him not;
I called him, but he gave no answer.
[2] “I will rise now and go about the city,
in the streets and in the squares;
I will seek him whom my soul loves.”
I sought him, but found him not.
[3] The watchmen found me,
as they went about in the city.
“Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”
[4] Scarcely had I passed them,
when I found him whom my soul loves.
I held him, and would not let him go
until I had brought him into my mother’s house,
and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
[5] I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
by the gazelles or the hinds of the field,
that you stir not up nor awaken love
until it please.
[6] What is that coming up from the wilderness,
like a column of smoke,
perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
with all the fragrant powders of the merchant?
[7] Behold, it is the litter of Solomon!
About it are sixty mighty men
of the mighty men of Israel,
[8] all girt with swords
and expert in war,
each with his sword at his thigh,
against alarms by night.
[9] King Solomon made himself a palanquin
from the wood of Lebanon.
[10] He made its posts of silver,
its back of gold, its seat of purple;
it was lovingly wrought within
by the daughters of Jerusalem.
[11] Go forth, O daughters of Zion,
and behold King Solomon,
with the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
on the day of the gladness of his heart.
Chapter 4
[1] Behold, you are beautiful, my love,
behold, you are beautiful!
Your eyes are doves
behind your veil.
Your hair is like a flock of goats,
moving down the slopes of Gilead.
[2] Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes
that have come up from the washing,
all of which bear twins,
and not one among them is bereaved.
[3] Your lips are like a scarlet thread,
and your mouth is lovely.
Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate
behind your veil.
[4] Your neck is like the tower of David,
built for an arsenal,
whereon hang a thousand bucklers,
all of them shields of warriors.
[5] Your two breasts are like two fawns,
twins of a gazelle,
that feed among the lilies.
[6] Until the day breathes
and the shadows flee,
I will hie me to the mountain of myrrh
and the hill of frankincense.
[7] You are all fair, my love;
there is no flaw in you.
[8] Come with me from Lebanon, my bride;
come with me from Lebanon.
Depart from the peak of Ama’na,
from the peak of Senir and Hermon,
from the dens of lions,
from the mountains of leopards.
[9] You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride,
you have ravished my heart with a glance of your eyes,
with one jewel of your necklace.
[10] How sweet is your love, my sister, my bride!
how much better is your love than wine,
and the fragrance of your oils than any spice!
[11] Your lips distil nectar, my bride;
honey and milk are under your tongue;
the scent of your garments is like the scent of Lebanon.
[12] A garden locked is my sister, my bride,
a garden locked, a fountain sealed.
[13] Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates
with all choicest fruits,
henna with nard,
[14] nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon,
with all trees of frankincense,
myrrh and aloes,
with all chief spices —
[15] a garden fountain, a well of living water,
and flowing streams from Lebanon.
[16] Awake, O north wind,
and come, O south wind!
Blow upon my garden,
let its fragrance be wafted abroad.
Let my beloved come to his garden,
and eat its choicest fruits.
Chapter 5
[1] I come to my garden, my sister, my bride,
I gather my myrrh with my spice,
I eat my honeycomb with my honey,
I drink my wine with my milk.
Eat, O friends, and drink:
drink deeply, O lovers!
[2] I slept, but my heart was awake.
Hark! my beloved is knocking.
“Open to me, my sister, my love,
my dove, my perfect one;
for my head is wet with dew,
my locks with the drops of the night.”
[3] I had put off my garment,
how could I put it on?
I had bathed my feet,
how could I soil them?
[4] My beloved put his hand to the latch,
and my heart was thrilled within me.
[5] I arose to open to my beloved,
and my hands dripped with myrrh,
my fingers with liquid myrrh,
upon the handles of the bolt.
[6] I opened to my beloved,
but my beloved had turned and gone.
My soul failed me when he spoke.
I sought him, but found him not;
I called him, but he gave no answer.
[7] The watchmen found me,
as they went about in the city;
they beat me, they wounded me,
they took away my mantle,
those watchmen of the walls.
[8] I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
if you find my beloved,
that you tell him
I am sick with love.
[9] What is your beloved more than another beloved,
O fairest among women?
What is your beloved more than another beloved,
that you thus adjure us?
[10] My beloved is all radiant and ruddy,
distinguished among ten thousand.
[11] His head is the finest gold;
his locks are wavy,
black as a raven.
[12] His eyes are like doves
beside springs of water,
bathed in milk,
fitly set.
[13] His cheeks are like beds of spices,
yielding fragrance.
His lips are lilies,
distilling liquid myrrh.
[14] His arms are rounded gold,
set with jewels.
His body is ivory work,
encrusted with sapphires.
[15] His legs are alabaster columns,
set upon bases of gold.
His appearance is like Lebanon,
choice as the cedars.
[16] His speech is most sweet,
and he is altogether desirable.
This is my beloved and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.
Chapter 6
[1] Whither has your beloved gone,
O fairest among women?
Whither has your beloved turned,
that we may seek him with you?
[2] My beloved has gone down to his garden,
to the beds of spices,
to pasture his flock in the gardens,
and to gather lilies.
[3] I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;
he pastures his flock among the lilies.
[4] You are beautiful as Tirzah, my love,
comely as Jerusalem,
terrible as an army with banners.
[5] Turn away your eyes from me,
for they disturb me —
Your hair is like a flock of goats,
moving down the slopes of Gilead.
[6] Your teeth are like a flock of ewes,
that have come up from the washing,
all of them bear twins,
not one among them is bereaved.
[7] Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate
behind your veil.
[8] There are sixty queens and eighty concubines,
and maidens without number.
[9] My dove, my perfect one, is only one,
the darling of her mother,
flawless to her that bore her.
The maidens saw her and called her happy;
the queens and concubines also, and they praised her.
[10] “Who is this that looks forth like the dawn,
fair as the moon, bright as the sun,
terrible as an army with banners?”
[11] I went down to the nut orchard,
to look at the blossoms of the valley,
to see whether the vines had budded,
whether the pomegranates were in bloom.
[12] Before I was aware, my fancy set me
in a chariot beside my prince.
[13] Return, return, O Shu’lammite,
return, return, that we may look upon you.
Why should you look upon the Shu’lammite,
as upon a dance before two armies?
Song of Solomon 4:16
[16] Awake, O north wind,
and come, O south wind!
Blow upon my garden,
let its fragrance be wafted abroad.
Let my beloved come to his garden,
and eat its choicest fruits.
Song of Solomon 6:9-11
[9] My dove, my perfect one, is only one,
the darling of her mother,
flawless to her that bore her.
The maidens saw her and called her happy;
the queens and concubines also, and they praised her.
Isaiah 62:11-12
[11] Behold, the LORD has proclaimed
to the end of the earth:
Say to the daughter of Zion,
“Behold, your salvation comes;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.”
[12] And they shall be called The holy people,
The redeemed of the LORD;
and you shall be called Sought out,
a city not forsaken.
Ephesians 1:3-10
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
[4] even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
[5] He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
[6] to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
[7] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
[8] which he lavished upon us.
[9] For he has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ
[10] as a plan for the fulness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Mark 10:46-11:11
[46] And they came to Jericho; and as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, Bartimae’us, a blind beggar, the son of Timae’us, was sitting by the roadside.
[47] And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
[48] And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
[49] And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; rise, he is calling you.”
[50] And throwing off his mantle he sprang up and came to Jesus.
[51] And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Master, let me receive my sight.”
[52] And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.
Chapter 11
[1] And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Beth’phage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
[2] and said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it.
[3] If any one says to you, `Why are you doing this?’ say, `The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’”
[4] And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door out in the open street; and they untied it.
[5] And those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?”
[6] And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go.
[7] And they brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it.
[8] And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.
[9] And those who went before and those who followed cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
[10] Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!”
[11] And he entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
John 11:1-46
[1] Now a certain man was ill, Laz’arus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
[2] It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Laz’arus was ill.
[3] So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.”
[4] But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.”
[5] Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Laz’arus.
[6] So when he heard that he was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
[7] Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”
[8] The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?”
[9] Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any one walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
[10] But if any one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”
[11] Thus he spoke, and then he said to them, “Our friend Laz’arus has fallen asleep, but I go to awake him out of sleep.”
[12] The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”
[13] Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep.
[14] Then Jesus told them plainly, “Laz’arus is dead;
[15] and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
[16] Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”
[17] Now when Jesus came, he found that Laz’arus had already been in the tomb four days.
[18] Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off,
[19] and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother.
[20] When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary sat in the house.
[21] Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
[22] And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”
[23] Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
[24] Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
[25] Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
[26] and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
[27] She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world.”
[28] When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying quietly, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.”
[29] And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him.
[30] Now Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him.
[31] When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
[32] Then Mary, when she came where Jesus was and saw him, fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
[33] When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled;
[34] and he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.”
[35] Jesus wept.
[36] So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
[37] But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”
[38] Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb; it was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
[39] Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.”
[40] Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
[41] So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
[42] I knew that thou hearest me always, but I have said this on account of the people standing by, that they may believe that thou didst send me.”
[43] When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Laz’arus, come out.”
[44] The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with bandages, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
[45] Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him;
[46] but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
Song of Solomon 1:2-2:3
[2] O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth!
For your love is better than wine,
[3] your anointing oils are fragrant,
your name is oil poured out;
therefore the maidens love you.
[4] Draw me after you, let us make haste.
The king has brought me into his chambers.
We will exult and rejoice in you;
we will extol your love more than wine;
rightly do they love you.
[5] I am very dark, but comely,
O daughters of Jerusalem,
like the tents of Kedar,
like the curtains of Solomon.
[6] Do not gaze at me because I am swarthy,
because the sun has scorched me.
My mother’s sons were angry with me,
they made me keeper of the vineyards;
but, my own vineyard I have not kept!
[7] Tell me, you whom my soul loves,
where you pasture your flock,
where you make it lie down at noon;
for why should I be like one who wanders
beside the flocks of your companions?
[8] If you do not know,
O fairest among women,
follow in the tracks of the flock,
and pasture your kids
beside the shepherds’ tents.
[9] I compare you, my love,
to a mare of Pharaoh’s chariots.
[10] Your cheeks are comely with ornaments,
your neck with strings of jewels.
[11] We will make you ornaments of gold,
studded with silver.
[12] While the king was on his couch,
my nard gave forth its fragrance.
[13] My beloved is to me a bag of myrrh,
that lies between my breasts.
[14] My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms
in the vineyards of Enge’di.
[15] Behold, you are beautiful, my love;
behold, you are beautiful;
your eyes are doves.
[16] Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved,
truly lovely.
Our couch is green;
[17] the beams of our house are cedar,
our rafters are pine.
Chapter 2
[1] I am a rose of Sharon,
a lily of the valleys.
[2] As a lily among brambles,
so is my love among maidens.
[3] As an apple tree among the trees of the wood,
so is my beloved among young men.
With great delight I sat in his shadow,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Zechariah 9:9-15
[9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Lo, your king comes to you;
triumphant and victorious is he,
humble and riding on an ass,
on a colt the foal of an ass.
[10] I will cut off the chariot from E’phraim
and the war horse from Jerusalem;
and the battle bow shall be cut off,
and he shall command peace to the nations;
his dominion shall be from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
[11] As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you,
I will set your captives free from the waterless pit.
[12] Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope;
today I declare that I will restore to you double.
[13] For I have bent Judah as my bow;
I have made E’phraim its arrow.
I will brandish your sons, O Zion,
over your sons, O Greece,
and wield you like a warrior’s sword.
[14] Then the LORD will appear over them,
and his arrow go forth like lightning;
the Lord GOD will sound the trumpet,
and march forth in the whirlwinds of the south.
[15] The LORD of hosts will protect them,
and they shall devour and tread down the slingers;
and they shall drink their blood like wine,
and be full like a bowl,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
Philippians 4:4-7
[4] Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
[5] Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand.
[6] Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
[7] And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 20:29-21:17
[29] And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
[30] And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
[31] The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent; but they cried out the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”
[32] And Jesus stopped and called them, saying, “What do you want me to do for you?”
[33] They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.”
[34] And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they received their sight and followed him.
Chapter 21
[1] And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Beth’phage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
[2] saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find an ass tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me.
[3] If any one says anything to you, you shall say, `The Lord has need of them,’ and he will send them immediately.”
[4] This took place to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
[5] “Tell the daughter of Zion,
Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on an ass,
and on a colt, the foal of an ass.”
[6] The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them;
[7] they brought the ass and the colt, and put their garments on them, and he sat thereon.
[8] Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
[9] And the crowds that went before him and that followed him shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
[10] And when he entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?”
[11] And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.”
[12] And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
[13] He said to them, “It is written, `My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you make it a den of robbers.”
[14] And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
[15] But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant;
[16] and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, `Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings
thou hast brought perfect praise’?”
[17] And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there.
Proverbs 8:22-31
[22] The LORD created me at the beginning of his work,
the first of his acts of old.
[23] Ages ago I was set up,
at the first, before the beginning of the earth.
[24] When there were no depths I was brought forth,
when there were no springs abounding with water.
[25] Before the mountains had been shaped,
before the hills, I was brought forth;
[26] before he had made the earth with its fields,
or the first of the dust of the world.
[27] When he established the heavens, I was there,
when he drew a circle on the face of the deep,
[28] when he made firm the skies above,
when he established the fountains of the deep,
[29] when he assigned to the sea its limit,
so that the waters might not transgress his command,
when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
[30] then I was beside him, like a master workman;
and I was daily his delight,
rejoicing before him always,
[31] rejoicing in his inhabited world
and delighting in the sons of men.
Baruch 4:36-5:4
[36] Look toward the east, O Jerusalem,
and see the joy that is coming to you from God!
[37] Behold, your sons are coming, whom you sent away;
they are coming, gathered from east and west,
at the word of the Holy One,
rejoicing in the glory of God.
Chapter 5
[1] Take off the garment of your sorrow and affliction,
O Jerusalem,
and put on for ever the beauty of the glory from God.
[2] Put on the robe of the righteousness from God;
put on your head the diadem of the glory of the Everlasting.
[3] For God will show your splendor everywhere under heaven.
[4] For your name will for ever be called by God,
“Peace of righteousness and glory of godliness.”
I Peter 1:3-9
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[4] and to an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
[5] who by God’s power are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[6] In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials,
[7] so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
[8] Without having seen him you love him; though you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy.
[9] As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.
Luke 19:29-48
[29] When he drew near to Beth’phage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples,
[30] saying, “Go into the village opposite, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat; untie it and bring it here.
[31] If any one asks you, `Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this, `The Lord has need of it.’”
[32] So those who were sent went away and found it as he had told them.
[33] And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
[34] And they said, “The Lord has need of it.”
[35] And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their garments on the colt they set Jesus upon it.
[36] And as he rode along, they spread their garments on the road.
[37] As he was now drawing near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,
[38] saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
[39] And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
[40] He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
[41] And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it,
[42] saying, “Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes.
[43] For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side,
[44] and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
[45] And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold,
[46] saying to them, “It is written, `My house shall be a house of prayer’; but you have made it a den of robbers.”
[47] And he was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him;
[48] but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people hung upon his words.
Matthew 21:1-9
[6] The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them;
[7] they brought the ass and the colt, and put their garments on them, and he sat thereon.
Mark 11:1-10
Luke 18:31-19:28
[31] And taking the twelve, he said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of man by the prophets will be accomplished.
[32] For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon;
[33] they will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise.”
[34] But they understood none of these things; this saying was hid from them, and they did not grasp what was said.
[35] As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging;
[36] and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant.
[37] They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
[38] And he cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
[39] And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
[40] And Jesus stopped, and commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near, he asked him,
[41] “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me receive my sight.”
[42] And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”
[43] And immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
Chapter 19
[1] He entered Jericho and was passing through.
[2] And there was a man named Zacchae’us; he was a chief tax collector, and rich.
[3] And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature.
[4] So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.
[5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchae’us, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today.”
[6] So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully.
[7] And when they saw it they all murmured, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
[8] And Zacchae’us stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold.”
[9] And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
[10] For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.”
[11] As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately.
[12] He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive a kingdom and then return.
[13] Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them, `Trade with these till I come.’
[14] But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, `We do not want this man to reign over us.’
[15] When he returned, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by trading.
[16] The first came before him, saying, `Lord, your pound has made ten pounds more.’
[17] And he said to him, `Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
[18] And the second came, saying, `Lord, your pound has made five pounds.’
[19] And he said to him, `And you are to be over five cities.’
[20] Then another came, saying, `Lord, here is your pound, which I kept laid away in a napkin;
[21] for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’
[22] He said to him, `I will condemn you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?
[23] Why then did you not put my money into the bank, and at my coming I should have collected it with interest?’
[24] And he said to those who stood by, `Take the pound from him, and give it to him who has the ten pounds.’
[25] (And they said to him, `Lord, he has ten pounds!’)
[26] `I tell you, that to every one who has will more be given; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
[27] But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.’”
[28] And when he had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
John 12:12-23
[12] The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
[13] So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
[14] And Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written,
[15] “Fear not, daughter of Zion;
behold, your king is coming,
sitting on an ass’s colt!”
[16] His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him.
[17] The crowd that had been with him when he called Laz’arus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness.
[18] The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.
[19] The Pharisees then said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him.”
[20] Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.
[21] So these came to Philip, who was from Beth-sa’ida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
[22] Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus.
[23] And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified.
Matthew 24:27-35
[27] For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
[28] Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
[29] “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;
[30] then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory;
[31] and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
[32] “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
[33] So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.
[34] Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place.
[35] Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
John 12:44-50
[44] And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.
[45] And he who sees me sees him who sent me.
[46] I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
[47] If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
[48] He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.
[49] For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak.
[50] And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me.”
