Third Day of the Fast of Heesnag
Colossians 1:24-2:7
Luke 11:33-42
Colossians 1:24-2:7
[24] Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,
[25] of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,
[26] the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now made manifest to his saints.
[27] To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
[28] Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ.
[29] For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me.
Chapter 2
[1] For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at La-odice’a, and for all who have not seen my face,
[2] that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in love, to have all the riches of assured understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, of Christ,
[3] in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
[4] I say this in order that no one may delude you with beguiling speech.
[5] For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.
[6] As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him,
[7] rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Luke 11:33-42
[33] “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a bushel, but on a stand, that those who enter may see the light.
[34] Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness.
[35] Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.
[36] If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”
[37] While he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him; so he went in and sat at table.
[38] The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner.
[39] And the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness.
[40] You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also?
[41] But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, everything is clean for you.
[42] “But woe to you Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.
