St. Anastasius the Persian priest,
St. Varus of Egypt,
St. Theodota, widow of Lyconia, and her three sons and companions

Proverbs 3:1-6
Jeremiah 17:7-8
II Timothy 2:3-10
Matthew 19:27-29

Proverbs 3:1-6

[1] My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments;
[2] for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare will they give you.
[3] Let not loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them about your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
[4] So you will find favor and good repute
in the sight of God and man.
[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
[6] In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

[7] “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose trust is the LORD.
[8] He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

II Timothy 2:3-10

[3] Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
[4] No soldier on service gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to satisfy the one who enlisted him.
[5] An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
[6] It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.
[7] Think over what I say, for the Lord will grant you understanding in everything.
[8] Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David, as preached in my gospel,
[9] the gospel for which I am suffering and wearing fetters like a criminal. But the word of God is not fettered.
[10] Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain salvation in Christ Jesus with its eternal glory.

Matthew 19:27-29

[27] Then Peter said in reply, “Lo, we have left everything and followed you. What then shall we have?”
[28] Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
[29] And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.
