Holy Prophets Ezekiel, Ezra, and Zachariah the Father of John the Baptist
Ezekiel 18:30-32
I Corinthians 2:6-10
Matthew 23:34-39
Ezekiel 18:30-32
[30] “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
[31] Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?
[32] For I have no pleasure in the death of any one, says the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.”
I Corinthians 2:6-10
[6] Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away.
[7] But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification.
[8] None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
[9] But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him,”
[10] God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
Matthew 23:34-39
[34] Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town,
[35] that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent Abel to the blood of Zechari’ah the son of Barachi’ah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.
[36] Truly, I say to you, all this will come upon this generation.
[37] “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!
[38] Behold, your house is forsaken and desolate.
[39] For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, `Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
