FAQ

Vemkar modules are yearly groupings of topical resources. They are designed as part of the greater mission of the Armenian Church of Building up the Body of Christ. We wanted to create a singular place in the digital world where our faithful can learn about and come to know Jesus Christ through our rich Church traditions, teachings of our vartabeds, faith, spirituality. Each Module has its Learning Season where the whole Diocese focuses on the selected topic (lasts ~ 3 months from the day the module is launched). Our pilot module was “Christ as Healer” and this current one is “Christ as Hope.”
Hope is active and clear. It isn’t wishful thinking or wanting very much for something to happen. It is not vague. Hope is realistic and grounded. In Armenian, to have hope means that we have been attentive to what is happening; we have done our homework; we have calculated the risk based on the evidence, we have evaluated the situation and the players in it, or the promises made to us, and now we attentively await the outcome. We anticipate. We are in a state of active expectation, and so we work toward our hope. For Armenian Christians, hope is based on Christ himself. Hope is Christ himself.
Vemkar is the Digitial Ministry of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America. The Vemkar initiative provides opportunities for online and in-person worship, education, service, and communion for all ages by way of multimedia digital resources and activities, based on the distinctive Christian witness of the Armenian Church as revealed through Holy Tradition: Scripture, theology, liturgy, sacraments, Saints, patristic heritage, sacred music, arts, architecture, language, and Church calendar. In other words, Vemkar is the breathing hub of true digital Armenian Christian faith formation.
