Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3: 5-6
In these verses, the Lord reminds us to place all our trust in Him. To realize that our wisdom and insight will always be small compared to His. It also reminds us to give Him credit for all the good things that we achieve and the blessings we receive from Him. The journey of life is certainly not a straight one. By placing all our trust in the Lord, we exercise our faith. It also allows us to acknowledge that He loves us, for love is the foundation of trust. By placing our loving trust in the Lord, He will surely fulfill our hope, for God will make all our paths straight in the journey that leads us to Him.
Let us pray with St. Gregory:
Faith, this simple and clear form of worship,
means setting aside doubt to see the future
hidden from the eye of the soul.
Faith is honored in a glorious Trinity with Charity and Hope.
For if you view these three as distinct aspects of one and the same mystery,
you shall forever be magnified in God.
And if you believe, you shall love,
and through love have hope in His unseen rewards.
Glory to Him forever.
